
Claims Assistance
In the event of any loss or damage, our claims department will assist you with lodgment, negotiation and settlement of claims.
The following process should be adopted if an accident or loss occurs:
- Advise the police if it is a crime or accidental (obtain a copy of report).
- Do not make any statements or admit liability.
- Advise Sedvine as soon as possible.
- Complete incident report/claim form.
- Make sure the area is safe and no further loss can occur.
- Await instructions from the insurer, assessor or our office.
How To Get Quick Action on Your Claim
- Complete the supplied claim form and return to our office.
- Attach all original receipts/ Quotations obtained for replacement of, or repair to, the damaged or missing property. Always take pictures before replacing especially Vehicle windscreen glasses.
- Attach original valuations and receipt of purchases whenever possible.
- Advise the Police immediately in the event of loss by accident, burglary, housebreaking, theft or suspected malicious damage. Also make sure the premises are secure to avoid further incidents.
- Do Not respond to demand letters served to you by third parties, Attach any letter of demand and any other correspondence that you may receive from a Third Party and forward to us.
- Do not make any admission of liability for loss or damage caused by you to the Third Party.
What Sedvine Will Do – If The Paperwork Is Correct and Complete
- Submit the claim form to the Insurer.
- If the claim has not been paid within 30 days, we will contact the Insurer to ascertain why there has been a delay and advise you accordingly.
- We will follow up the claim until settlement is reached, however, please feel free to contact us at any time.
- We will also assist you in the event of any negotiations with the insurer.
Recap of Some Important Points
- DO NOT make any public statements or admit fault of any kind
- Report ALL incidents as soon as possible and obtain Police Abstract where necessary
- Give ALL possible information; have an incident report form completed if no claim forms are available.
- Report ANY incident which could lead to a claim by staff, customers or third parties.
